Thank you for a great Saturday. That was a nice area to hold the class. I think Pearl is understanding the pulling concept.

Thank you very much for all of this information and for the clinic. You and Eric are excellent teachers and your class was arranged in a way that we could really follow. I also appreciate that you asked about dog issues at the beginning so that Luke could participate.

Thank you and Eric for such an informative super clinic on Pull Training this morning. Everything was so well explained and though you did impart a lot of information, you also gave us a lot of guidance as to how to find out more... I thought Ellie did very well considering when I adopted she wouldn't walk on a leash, she was so fearful.

Anyway, again thank you for a superb clinic--you and Eric are obviously very into the dog pulling sports and very knowledgeable... and it shows. But you also have the ability to instruct those of us "newbies", explaining everything so well. It's one thing to have the knowledge but to teach it to those of us who know nothing is a real gift (along with hard work!!).

Daphne K. and Ellie.

We do not want to let too much time go past without sending you a big thanks for our outing with your dogs. The girls (and moms) had a great day together, and the outing was really memorable. Thanks for the opportunity and for the fun and education you gave us. Thanks for the pictures as well.

Hi Catherine,
I just wanted to follow up on yesterday's Run What You Brung and let you know how much fun Jason and I (and of course Gryffin and Phoenix too!) had yesterday! The boys were pretty pooped on the ride home (no accidents :) ) and spent most of last night sleeping!

I have no doubt that his experience with your dogs will be one he remembers for a lifetime. This adventure was made so special because of the effort of you and your husband to reach out to the youngest participants. Without your caring, the trip would not have been such an important time for all of us. All of us glowed with excitement all day long.

Sometimes I try to plan something special and am greatly disappointed but that was certainly not true of our dog sledding adventure. You met and exceeded our expectations. I hope you know how important your mission in helping others through animal adventures is. Keep on mushing!!

Sincere thanks,
Carole

Catherine-

I just wanted to send a note of thanks to you for making a little boys dreams come true today. Payton was still beaming from his adventure with you guys and your beautiful dogs - when he got home from school today.

Both of you and the dogs were so impressive and wonderful with Payton. I am sure he will remember his time with you - forever. The whole experience was truly special!

Thank you again for a wonderful experience!

Sincerely,
Lauren H.

Catherine,
I just wanted to thank you and Eric for putting together a wonderful program for our group. The kids really enjoyed it--and believe it or not, one of them even wants to move to Alaska! The only thing that would have made it better was if it was 15 degrees warmer (I think we ALL froze our butts off that day). Nonetheless, we had a great time and would highly recommend Maryland Sled Dogs to any potential clients you may have.
All my best,
Maureen M-B.

Dog Sledding Rox!

The girls loved dog sledding and are still talking about it.

Thank you for the adventure of a lifetime for most these girls. How cool is it for these girls to be asked "What you do this weekend?" and them able to say "I learned about dog sledding and got to ride in one." It is a very nice thing you are doing sharing your skills and your talented and very well behaved dogs with us. My daughter says to give Zoë and the others a big hug for her (Zoë was her favorite).

The girls had a wonderful time and the parents were equally impressed! It was a great day!! You guys were so wonderful and did such a great job working with kids.

Thank you for a wonderful time on Saturday. You have a first class operation; we were really impressed by everything, the organization, attention to detail, the photos, the timeliness, etc. The girls couldn't stop
thinking and talking about the dogs on the way home. In fact, my daughter and her friend said that was the best thing they have ever done in their five plus years of girl scouting (even winning out over camping)! Now that's making a statement.

We are grateful that you have introduced such a unique activity to our group of diverse girls. Some of our girls are not so much "outdoorsy-type" of people, and a few others don't even care for dogs; one of which had a slight fear of dogs. However, the manner of which you presented the program in conjunction with the great temperament of the dogs themselves, proved to be a success for everyone. When I saw all of the girls (reluctantly) leave Monkton station on Saturday with smiles on all of their faces, I knew it was a job well done. Kudos to you, Eric, Zoe, Sobo, T-Bone, and Okemo.
Lori B., Troop 1416, Laurel, MD

remember a long time, and she learned a lot along the way.

Catherine and Eric,
Thank you both so much for spending so much time with us and the pups. We all had a great time and learned a lot. We really appreciated all the knowledge and training. We had a few errands to run and got home around 3:00ish. We gave the pups a late lunch, then they passed out, and slept until 5:00 am!
Thanks again,
Elyse, Tom, Zack, and Sasha

Maryland Sled Dog Aventures Blog

Maryland Sled Dog Adventures LLC just added a new blog to provide faster updates about dog sledding, dryland dog sledding, our dogs, and occasionally our life.

Sled Dog Central

Sled Dog Central is one of the most active and useful sites for mushing. SDC includes a forum to ask questions and exchange ideas, as well as links to equipment and other resources.

SledDoggin

Sled Doggin is another good online community for and about dog sledding, sled dogs, and similar. Check it out!

Mushing Boot Camp

Iditarod musher Jamie Nelson and mid-distance racer and breeder Ann Stead host an intense three day training program on training your sled dogs. This camp is one of the best investments a musher could make.

Skijor Now

Skijor Now is a source for skijoring equipment and information.

Pennsylvania Sled Dog Club

Pennsylvania Sled Dog Club (PSDC) is a club for and about sled dog racing and training of sled dogs. Our team participated in the PSDC Fair Hill Challenge, Tow Hill training, and Nemacolin Woodlands Resort events.

Iditarod

When you mention dog sledding, sled dogs, snow dogs or anything similar, the first thing that people think of is Iditarod. The 1,150 mile Iditarod is the most famous dog sledding race in North America.

Yukon Quest

The Yukon Quest is a slightly shorter (1,000 mile) race, but is often run under more challenging conditions than the better known Iditarod.

Husky Power Dog Sledding

Mike and Linda Herdering have an eighteen dog kennel in Accident, Maryland and offer dryland and snow tours and rides.

Fritz Dyck training carts

Training carts or rigs for dryland dog sledding are specialized. We use Fritz Dyck three and four wheeled carts for training and in our educational programs. The carts are well designed and well made.

DogScooter.com

Dogscooter.com sells scooters, sulkies and other equipment used for dog powered sports. Dogscooter.com also has information on scootering and training tips for working with your dog. Dogscooter.com is also a good resource if you are looking for other people who scooter in your area.

White Pine Outfitters

We use the High Sierra Walk-a-belt for walking the dogs, canicross and skijoring. The High Sierra belt is not a true skijoring belt (it does not have leg loops), but it works well as a multiuse belt. We suggest getting one with a panic snap. We also suggest replacing the included carabiner with a real (climbing rated) carabiner.

Dogbooties.com

Jamie Nelson introduced us to the Dogbooties.com x-back harness at Mushing Boot Camp. We found that with other harnesses, we frequently had a problem with the harnesses riding up and constricting the dogs' windpipes. If a dog can't breathe, he or she cannot run.

Nooksack Racing Supply

Nooksack sells a variety of dog sledding and skijoring equipment including belts, lines and harnesses.

Tails of the Tundra Siberian Husky Rescue

Tails of the Tundra Siberian Husky Rescue is a nonprofit volunteer organization, formed to help Siberian Huskies and Siberian Husky Mixes that have been abused, neglected, abandoned, or surrendered by their owners. Both T-Bone and Sobo came from TOTTSHR.

Kiana Siberians
